Nancy Rubins' water vessel sculpture "Big Edge" at MGM's CityCenter

Over 75’ long, cantilevered over Vdara’s main driveway, Rubin’s steel and aluminum sculpture suspends a wave of found objects: rowboats, canoes, kayaks, all tied in tension with stainless steel cable.

Flynn A&D created photomontages of sizing and placement to get the initial location for the sculpture approved, then built (with the art gallery’s assistance) a 190 s.f. site model for locating the artist's 1:12 scale maquette within the landscape context. The model allowed the artist and client to finesse the sculpture's placement as it overhung the roadway below.

Flynn A&D further assisted in the structural coordination of the piece.
